George Zimmerman to Fight Rapper DMX in Celebrity Boxing Match?

There are really no words or emotions that can describe one of the most anticipated boxing matches in years. E! News has confirmed that George Zimmerman will fight rapper DMX in a celebrity boxing match refereed by Floyd Mayweather Sr. next month. Believe it or not the thought to fight was actually Zimmerman’s idea. He’s an avid fan of boxing.

Once celebrities caught wind of the event they were lining up to fight the man who stood trial for second-degree murder and manslaughter of youngster Trayvon Martin. Rapper The Game was one celeb who was adamant about fighting Zimmerman, but ultimately the event’s coordinators picked DMX.

This is not a charity event. Both Zimmerman and DMX will get paid and what they choose to do with the money is their own business. There has also been a tremendous amount of backlash about the event. There is currently a petition on Change.org calling for the fight to be cancelled.

It’s a farce. I agree with Rev. Al Sharpton – it sets a disgusting precedent.
